Earlier in the year we announced that Jack Sparrow would be added to the Disneyland Paris version of Pirates of the Caribbean ready for the resort’s 20th anniversary. It seemed that this stop start project has been in the works since its arrival in the US parks in 2006 but this time the news seemed more certain.

As with the tale of this lovable rogue, Jack Sparrow never seems to follow the norm and once again it seemed the best laid plans have been curtailed due to financial reasons. Although there has been no official confirmation from Disneyland Paris (since when has that surprised us) the only real hint we have is the alteration of the attractions rehab schedule. Originally planned to go down for 3 months, the schedule now shows the Adventureland favourite as closing for only 2 weeks, no where near enough time for the Imagineers to add three Jack Sparrow’s let alone the rumoured addition of Captain Barbossa and Davy Jones mist screen.

With this 20th addition disappearing, it asks questions as to what is going to be planned for the resort’s 20th and where the budget may now be going. Rumours of a new parade and possible water based night time show are still alive but, as always, Disneyland Paris keep their cards very close to their chest.
