I thought about picking up a a few Vinylmation today. I’m still adding to my collection of Have a Laugh, they vanished this week and then re-appeared online. The Vinylmation Tunes sold out within a day of release, except for Stitch. Imagine my surprise that when I visit the Disney Store’s UK website and I see this

Whatis going on with UK’s stock of Vinylmation. In recent months we have discovered that the Disney Store in the UK have underestimated demand. On the release of Furry Friends, guests snapped them up and stocks ran low. Disney released Vinylmation Tunes and stocks ran out. It’s nice to once again see the London Taxi exclusive back but it seems you can only order one. Other than that the only choice we are left with is the very common UK flag and two, expensive Limited Edition 9″ sets. It begs the question, Is this the end of Vinylmation in the UK or have the Disney Store got their strategy all wrong? This week we had confirmation that the UK will get the Disney Store 25th Anniversary set, but as they are delayed in the US we have no idea when they are coming. Other than that, there is no news on what is coming.

The hard bit to understand is that people want to part with their money and build their collection. It seems Disney just don’t want to take it. We will keep you informed on what is going on as we find out more.

What do you think? Could this be the beginning of the end for UK Vinylmation?

  1. It’s is proper getting me down, I refuse to pay the excessive postage costs so would like to pop into my local store when I’m passing & just pick 1 or 3 up. Liverpool One store haven’t had any in stock since mid January! If they have the staff need briefing coz 3 times I’ve been told no (one of those times I was again asked “What’s that”) 🙁

  2. as the UK’s Leader and King of Vinylmation (lol) I have to disagree. We have just had a set launch in the UK the same day as the US AGAIN! Infact what has launched this year we haven’t got at the same time as the US? D-Tour? (Park Only) NFL/MLB/NBA (yawn for most) and Park 8 (Never get released outside of Parks) so whats the problem? We dont get enough because they dont want to get stuck with stock they cant sell. These series selling out so quickly means they will need to order more for future releases and that can only be a good thing!

This is not RIP Vinylmation, infact, I can only see this being the start of bigger and better things!!!!! I strongly believe this to be true

  3. It’s a shame we’ve only got such a limited choice, while we’ve had lots of new releases which is great, they need more stock and choice. Even if not in store but online, but this hardly feels like a launch … new customers don’t stand a chance..

  4. Craig is completely right! its the same with the pins. I work full time half 8 till half 6 most days, on the day of release on either vinyls or pins if your not there by half 9 you have no chance of getting one. For example, when furry friends came out, i picked up 3. I managed to get the cheshire cat chaser, so very happy. I went back a matter of days later and i was told they were all gone. They have never had any since!! i then looked in to, they were recalled due to poor quality. Soooo i really dont think they should worry about overstocking. I would buy the whole series and most real disney fans would as with the pins. i went into liverpool one too, in search for vinyls. I had the same response. Gutting!!!
