I’m not sure if you are like me but I always had to visit the House of Innoventions just to see the latests, greatest gadgets heading to our homes. I know I would never be able to afford any of them but it was always great to dream. On my last trip, it was sad to see the former attraction with its shutters down and I always wondered if it would ever return. This week, a press release gave use a bit more information on what’s coming and just how it might be a bit different to what we are used to.
Las Vegas, January 10, 2012 – Imagine visiting your new neighbor’s home for the first time and realizing that each room features innovative products that allow this family to live more sustainably and comfortably than you ever thought possible. It gets you thinking about your own home. “What if…”
That “if” is now possible. Household names focused on delighting families everywhere have teamed up to bring the home of the future to you today. A new INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® green home exhibit will feature products and solutions from Ingersoll Rand brands Trane, the leading manufacturer of heating and air conditioning systems, and Schlage, America’s most trusted name in security1. VISION House in INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® at the Walt Disney World® Resort, launching in April in collaboration with Green Builder Media, will demonstrate how the latest advances in technology allow homeowners to reduce their impact on the planet while making their homes more sustainable, safe, comfortable and efficient.
“There’s a lot of buzz about ‘home automation’ and ‘green,’ but we have real products that homeowners are already using. Now, INNOVENTIONS guests from around the world will experience how these products can make their lives easier and more comfortable while helping protect their homes,” said Scott Martin, vice president, marketing for Ingersoll Rand.
The VISION House is really about showcasing the solutions that will change how people keep their homes secure, comfortable and green through technology and innovation. One of those solutions from Ingersoll Rand, Nexia™ Home Intelligence, a new home automation system, allows residents to manage access to their homes via any Web-enabled computer and most smartphones. Homeowners can also adjust their high-efficiency heating and cooling system through Trane’s ComfortLink™ II Control and check on the security of their homes from their mobile devices, thanks to Schlage Home Keypad locks and Schlage cameras.
Nexia™ Home Intelligence also offers video recording capability for homeowners to capture video while away. Newly introduced sensor support expands the variety of control to accompany current locks, lights, thermostat and camera. All of these products are now available on the market and can be customized to fit homeowners’ needs across a variety of price points. Learn more at www.nexiahome.com.
“Ingersoll Rand continually offers innovative products that meet homeowners’ needs around security, efficiency and now smart home automation,” said Sara Gutterman, chief executive officer of Green Builder Media. “The company’s mission aligns perfectly with the new VISION House at INNOVENTIONS, which educates visitors through the exhibit’s interactive experiences that maximize comfort and minimize operational costs.”
INNOVENTIONS cast members will lead guests through a guided tour of VISION House. They will share details about the experiential exhibit, and encourage guests to consider how they can reduce their carbon footprint by implementing changes to their own homes.
To accompany the INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® exhibit, Green Builder Media will launch a comprehensive technology platform that will integrate advanced online, mobile, digital and social media solutions to complement and expand the on-site experience. VISION House guests can learn more about a product featured in the exhibit through interactive gaming at an exhibit kiosk, or test their carbon footprint IQ via an online 3D experience. Nexia Home Intelligence is a 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show Design and Engineering honoree, the most recent honor in a long line of Trane and Schlage award-winning products devoted to delivering sustainable solutions.
