After a year away from organising MouseMeets, the planning team are back in action. MouseMeets 2014 will be held in Manchester on the weekend of May 10th – 11th 2014.
The event will be held over 2 days and will be focused around presentations / speakers and meeting up.
Previous years have included an interview with Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy), Q & A with Len Testa (Touring Plans), Video Tour of the Magic Kingdom (via live link up), History of Phantom Manor, Being a shareholder of EuroDisney, a Tour of Port Orleans Resort, Being a Home Owner in Florida (Pros and Cons). We have also included Competitions / a Disney Quiz (with prizes) and games.
In 2010 Disney Brit recorded a Live podcast as part of MouseMeets. The event also brought together Disney fans from different backgrounds that decided that they wanted to get involved with podcasting. As the Next MouseMeets went live another Podcast was added to the line up (Your MouseCast) and they also recorded a live podcast. By 2012 There were 2 podcasts recording in the main room and a third one with a spin off project in the “official” Travelodge (DisAfterDark).
We usually visit the cinema as a group for a private viewing of a Disney / Pixar film.
2010 – Snow White
2011 – Up
2012 – Beauty and the Beast
2013- ???? We have the cinema booked we just need the choice of film.
Pin Trading. 2010 we got it very wrong. With only 1 room for the presentations and trading we soon realised that the conversations overlapped the presentations. In 2011 & 2012 we opted for 2 rooms 1 for trading and one for presentations. This year again we have chosen a venue that will accommodate a separate trading area next to the main presentation room. We aim to accommodate more trading this year including vinylmation, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and Disney Infinity Power Discs. If your a collector you will want to be here this year.
Every year we also choose a charity to support.
In 2010 it was Dial a Dream. A charity that helped children between the age of 3 and 18 with life limited conditions to achieve their dreams.
In 2011 it was the Stroke association.
In 2012 we supported Great Ormond Street Hospital.
This year we have chosen to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital again.
Our main fund raiser for the charity is a charity auction held on the Sunday afternoon of the weekend. All money raised from the auction will go direct to the charity. We will also open up a just giving page if you would like to make a donation.
The best part of MouseMeets is bringing people together with different view points and geographical locations, that all share one thing. The love of Disney. Although we provide a couple of days entertainment some of the best memories have happened outside of the event. As a group we generally all visit a restaurant, but we separate off and make new friends. From past experience some of the people I have met have stayed close friends ever since.
