The film may have only just been released here in the UK but we’ve had time long enough to study it and pick up some real Disney hidden gems in the movie. Those in the US who known own it on Blu Ray can search for these while watching the movie. Take a look below:
Wreck-It Ralph welcomes some of the gaming world’s coolest characters and the savviest moviegoers can spot a few passing through Game Central Station. From L-R: Pong (paddles and ball), Dig Dug, Ugg, Coily, Q*bert, Slick, Peter Pepper, Sonic The Hedgehog, Neff and Dr. Eggman.
Sugar Rush #10 racer Minty Zaki’s name pays homage to renowned Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki.
An establishing shot of Litwak’s Family Fun Center reveals a nod to the mouse that started it all. The billboard above the arcade features an image of Mickey himself in a mock advertisement for a company called ―Double U Dee’s. Of course, WD are the initials of the man who started it all: Walt Disney. Also, the number 52 on the billboard is a reference to the fact that WRECK-IT RALPH is Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 52nd animated feature.
Ralph searches the lost-and-found at root beer tavern and discovers an exclamation point from Metal Gear Solid, plus a couple more items gamers will recognize: Zangief’s wrestling uniform and a super mushroom from Super Mario Brothers.
Look closely: the initials of director Rich Moore, executive producer John Lasseter, Ed Catmull (president, Pixar & Walt Disney Animation Studios) and Andrew Millstein (general manager, WDAS) appear as high scorers in the game ―Time Hunter 4, which is next to ―Hero’s Duty in the arcade.
