It seems that Disneyland Paris have conceded defeat over the upcoming ticketed event “Mickey’s Princesses and Pirates Party” The new night-time event was due to begin in June on 4 nights (1st, 10th, 17th and 24th) but ha officially been cancelled. As well as attractions staying open in Adventureland and Fantasyland, guests were also to be treated to a special parade, character encounters and also take away a souvenir sticker book all for the price of €25 (£22). Don’t panic though if you have already bought a ticket, you will be contacted directly by Disneyland Paris to resolve the issue.

There has been no official reason given to the cancellation but it could be something to do with low ticket sales. The party, aimed towards a younger audience, didn’t begin until 8pm and for many that is just too late after a long day at the parks, let alone way passed their bedtime. With no additional fireworks or events designed for an older audience, the party certainly didn’t appeal to those without small children. Disneyland Paris have now given reason for the cancellation of all the parties. According to an official statement the refurbishment work in Fantasyland is running behind schedule and this means the parties will not be able to run as effectively as they hoped.  Disney have released an official statement today explaining the issues. Refurbishment work in Fantasyland has been delayed causing a hold up in the areas the party was to take place. Because of this, the event has had to be cancelled.  Also, the official release says:

“For those who are still visiting the resort on the scheduled dates, in addition to a full refund of the ticket price, we invite you to join us in the space of Hurricane’s Disney Village between 5pm and 8pm on the day of the event originally planned, to spend a moment with our Disney Princesses and Pirates with a refreshing drink.* (*Details to be confirmed upon refunding of ticket)”

Sad news I know, especially as we had plans to head out to the 1st June event but for those of you who did have tickets you get your money back, a private party and the chance to head in to Hurricanes which has been closed since last March.
