Well, we have had a very busy weekend of updates here on Disneybrit as we continue our campaign for better information and variety of Vinylmation in the UK.
Today (Monday 9th January), Disney did indeed launch the new Vinylmation series Furry Friends online
The Vinylmation, as always will be sold for £8 a unit with the usual postage charges applicable. But, one thing that we have been unaware since they went on sale in some store on Saturday is the charity element of the new set. According to the UK Disney Store website every time a guest buys a Furry Friends Vinylmation:
“Disney Store will donate £1 from the sale of each Vinylmation Furry Friends sold to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity”
It’s great to see that Disney are still committed to supporting this much needed charity.
So, let’s talk about the Vinylmation themselves as there seems to be a little bit of a mix up. Several readers have contacted us to tell us that they have been to the store and bought a full tray of Furry Friends. Upon getting them home and opening the boxes, it turns out that there isn’t a complete set among them. The side of the tray states that it contains two full sets and one chaser but it seems that this isn’t the case. Problem is, according to the Disney Store website:
Please Note: Due to the unique nature of this item, there are no refunds, exchanges or returns
This has left somewhat of a sore after taste in the mouth of some of the Disney fans here in the UK. It seems there has certainly been a mix up somewhere down the line and we must clarify, all of the trays affected are not from the same store. It will be very interesting to hear what Disney are going to do about that!
As if that isn’t bad enough, there have been calls in the Disney community for Furry Friends to be recalled due to some poor quality finishing. I personally have not seen them so cannot comment and it does seem the poor quality is not on all Vinylmation but on the occasional one. Still, we continue our fight for better Vinylmation in the UK and at the moment Disney are not delivering.
To finish off this update, Paul Boniface went in to his local Shepherds Bush Disney Store today and here is the display of Vinylmation he found.
Yep, just what we thought as well!!! We shall continue the fight to #SaveUKVinylmation!
I might have to get down to the Shepherds Bush store for that random Toy Story Vinylmation.
Shout SUV SUV SUV SUV
Well a month on, and the #SaveUKVinylmation tag should be red hot since the DS.co.uk website has such a huge collection (HAL, Jafar/Kidda/UK Flag) , so much for a big launch for the UK, a month later and we have nothing to buy… Even the stores have all ran out of Animation 2….
All I know is my Vinylmation’s are picking up a lot of Air miles as nothing is being brought in the UK.
