It wouldn’t be the first time Disney announced a large project that didn’t happen. When Epcot was in its infancy, Disney Imagineers announced many pavilions that were due to come soon but many never appeared. In Disneyland Paris, Disney planned to build Walt Disney Studios only a few years after the opening of the Disneyland Park. It took 10 years to come to fruition! Well…. it seems ghosts of distance past may have returned again. According to a source at IGN
The delays carry over into Cameron’s World of Avatar attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which was announced around this time last year. Due to creative differences between Cameron and Disney’s Imagineer development team, it seems as though we’ll be waiting even longer on that project as well.
So, when do we expect the World of Avatar to appear? No one knows exactly and some are even reporting that it has been shelved for good. A surprise you say? Well, the hype around the franchise seems to have well and truly died down and with Cameron changing the goal posts constantly about release dates of the movies could this be Disney realising that Avatar may not be the cash cow they first thought? Don’t be surprised if it never appears and instead this little known project called Beastly Kingdom comes back to the rumour mill.
