LEICESTER UK – Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare etc – what a success!  Social Media and networking is the future on interaction, there is no doubt.  One of the great things about the Disney community is the feeling of exactly that, being part of a community. The opportunities for everyone to gather together all over the world in one place are few and far between, until now!

The internet is full of Disney forums, you may even be a member of one yourself. We didn’t want to create another forum as there are so many already that do such a great job. In the true words of Walt we wanted to “Keep moving forward” and create the next thing that would allow Disney fans from all over the globe to interact with each other. Without a shadow of a doubt, Facebook has ben the biggest phenomenon of the last decade but it has its restrictions, it doesn’t always make it easy! That is why we have created DisCOT! ( www.DisCOT.net), the new social media website dedicated to the world of the Walt Disney Company and we would love for you to be a part of it. Just like may of it social media predecessors, the site is simple to navigate, fun to use and what is more, is totally free for anyone to be a member on. There are no limits to the number of friends each member can have (we realise in the Disney community you don’t always “know” the people you are friends with) and there is no limit to the amount of information you can place on the site.

DisCOT, what does that stand for we hear you ask? Walt Disney always wanted a community of people to live under one roof. He plans for the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow was innovative and forward thinking. A place where a community could live and share experiences together. Discot, follows exactly the same ethos. The Disney Community of Tomorrow (Discot) is somewhere we hope people will come together to share their vacation experiences with  like minded people from across the globe.

The website is already running in and we will be continuing to improve the sites features and look over the coming months. As we have already said, the website is free to use and is not designed to bring in income from its members.

All we ask of you right now is to head over to the website and sign up (http://www.DisCOT.net).  You will find several groups already set up and you may even find podcasts you listen to or websites you visit has a group already. If not, please set one up. The site is fully intergrated with both Facebook and Twitter so by sharing on Discot, you are already sharing with the social media platforms you are already familiar with. You will find that every status update will also allow up to 330 characters rather than the 140 imposed by Twitter, giving you another  190 characters for that added little bit of detail. One other unique feature allows you to attach an RSS feed to your profile. This will make sure that any message you place on the website will also go out to Twitter automatically and vice versa.

Adding written messages is only a small part of what you will be able to achieve in Discot. You will be able to add video and photos to each message. We want this to be a community that people can get involved in. Someone might be good at programming or enjoying moderating. There will be the chance for you to do this too.

We really hope that this kind of website could contribute to the future of the online Disney community and we hope that you would become part of that community at Discot. We look forward to welcoming you to the future!

Here is the announcement made tonight with demonstration of the new site
