The latest edition to the cruise line family the Disney Fantasy has now been officially christened at a star studded ceremony in New York. Let’s take a look back at it’s journey from Germany across the atlantic:

The Building Milestones:
11 Feb 2011 saw the Disney Fantasy keel laying at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. This was when the first block, or section of the ship, was lowered into the building dock and a coin was placed under the keel for good luck.

September 2011 saw the mounting of the final block and the shift of construction work to the ships internal spaces like the Aqua Lab:

9th January 2012 Saw the float out of the Fantasy:

The Fantasy was then pulled down the River Ems by tugs in preparation for her ocean voyage:

February 16th 2012 The Fantasy leaves Germany to embark on her journey across the Atlantic.

Wow love the use of technology to bring the drawings to life, I am now really leaning towards a cruise on this beauty in the near future after seeing things like this!

And now we come on to something very close to my heart and something Disney always does with gusto on board Broadway style shows!

Episode Six – Spectacular Entertainment

Disney’s Aladdin—A Musical Spectacular
Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular is an approximate 45-minute, Broadway-style production with many of the songs from the classic Disney film. It plays at approximately 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. aboard the Disney Fantasy on Decks 3 and 4, Forward in the Walt Disney Theatre.

Disney’s Believe
This Broadway-style production stars more than 20 celebrated Disney Characters in a heartfelt musical extravaganza. The show takes place in the Walt Disney Theatre on Decks 3 and 4.

Disney’s Wishes
Wishes is a Broadway-style production that takes place in the Walt Disney Theatre. During this heartfelt musical, celebrated Disney Characters reveal the secret to growing up—while staying young at heart.

28th February The Fantasy Arrives in New York
after an epic 3800 mile journey and is the first of the Disney ships to visit the Big Apple. Here she is making her journey down the Hudson River:

We are just 30 mins away from the official Christening ceremony of the Fantasy but before that magic moment, thousands of crew members, chefs, dancers, deckhands and technicians are working to make everything perfect for the Fantasy’s debut. Oh, and let’s not forget Minnie Mouse, since it’s her statue that guests see when they first walk into the Fantasy’s art nouveau atrium. Here’s a video look at the last minute preparations.
