Disneyland Paris have just issued their latest iteration of the Mouse Ear Hats. The Light ‘Ears, are a new technology that allows the ears to glow with LED lights in sync with their Disney Dreams evening show. These have evolved slightly since the World of Color Mouse Ears.
The addition of the hat interaction is amazing. I couldn’t believe the quality of the Disney Dreams show, by itself. When you see the Dreams show plus hats, it just gest better. Now I know what your thinking. Disney Brit is just saying that DIsney did something and DIsney are great. Wrong! you need to watch the video below to decide for yourself. Although the video doesn;t focus only on teh new Light’Ear hats you get the idea.
The technology embedded in the ears means that it can either randomly cycle through it’s own colour or when given the right signal it will sync with the show. One other interesting feature is that if it is in the proximity of another hat for long enough it will sync with the nearby hat. This would be useful for a group of people together illuminating in sync.
BUT where was the first mouse Ear hat used or thought of?
The very first Mouse Ear hat ever seen in Disney history is in a monumental creation. In 1929, The Karnival Kid was a Mickey Mouse Short which featured Mickey Mouse speaking for the first time. He spoke the famous words “Hot Dog”, it also suggested Minnie Mouse was a belly Dancer (through shadow). She’d “put you in a trance with her hoochy koochy dance!”. at about 3:10 into the cartoon, Mickey raises his ear hat to Minnie, while showing her his hot dog cart! So it goes to show how important the Disney history is with the current merchandise you see today. Although we do not recommend grafting a Mouse Ear hat onto your actual head as suggested by the picture below!
