Johnny Depp is in Talks with Disney about starring in their proposed new musical film production. The film is an adaptation of the Broadway Musical “Into the Woods”. If Johnny does accept the offering it would reunite him with Rob Marshall, director of Pirates of the Caribbean 4. This would also mark the first time since Sweeney Todd that Johnny will have sung on Camera.
Into the Woods is a darkly comic mashup of classic fairy tales that revolves around a childless Baker and his wife, who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the Witch that put the spell on them. Along the way, they encounter a group of characters including Rapunzel, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.
Johnny Depp has a good history with Disney, featuring in Pirates of the Caribbean series of film, Alice in Wonderland and is about to be released at The Lone Ranger. It would be good to keep good talent with in the Disney family and hopefully their contracts will be agreed.
