Many became vocal over the Muppets presenting the 2012 Oscars but sadly it was not to be. Billy Crystal, a Pixar favourite was awarded the honour but Kermit and Miss Piggy did make an appearance in the show. To add to the Disney tie-in, they were given the pleasure of introducing the amazingly talented performance troupe Cirque Du Soleil who gave their own interpretation of the movies in a way only Cirque Du Soleil could. Take a look at the Muppets and Cirque Du Soleil’s performance below

Disney did get its fair share of chances at winning with nominations for “The Help”, “War Horse” (distribution only) and The Muppets. Sadly, there was no nomination for Full Length Animated Feature but the did manage to pick up an Oscar with Olivia Spencer winning Best Supporting Actress. The only true Disney Oscar this year came from the hugely popular Muppets Movie as Man or a Muppet took Music (Original Song). If you haven’t heard it, take a listen below

P.S. If you haven’t seen the Muppets Movie yet, WHY NOT?!?!?!?!?!?!?
