Disturbing news reaches us this morning…..could this be the beginning of the end for Disney Vinylmations? The first clue was when Disney announced that the Vinylmation element was being removed from the annual Epcot Trading Event. Now, other websites are reporting that Vinylmation Trading boxes are going to be removed from merchandise locations in parks from February 5th onwards. To remove these two elements is a huge deal, especially for collectors who thrive on these events and on the trading boxes in the park. When my family were at Disneyworld last November, half the fun was hitting all the trade boxes and finding some amazing Vinylmations in there.
However, it’s not all doom and gloom. Apparently, Disney aren’t pulling the plug just yet and new Vinylmations are still being developed, with lots more upcoming releases. Maybe the park staff are getting too busy at the payment counter to indulge in trading? Maybe Vinyls just aren’t a big enough earner for Disney for them to include them in trading events any longer – it might be that they’re being replaced by something more profitable, or simply making way for something new and exciting. Who knows? In any case, we’ll keep our eyes peeled and our ears open and let you have any news as soon as we get it.
Hi, a friend of mine is out there at the moment apparently all the swap boxes have gone now including from D street…. They should probably get rid of the blind boxes now.
I do wonder if its caused by the change in gaming laws that they removed the soft toy cranes for as effectively the purchasing and swapping of Vinylmations is a game of chance ?
